Who: Sumitomo Metal Mining Pogo (SMM Pogo) LLC
Where: Interior of Alaska, 80 miles from nearest city
What kind of deployment: Outdoor AP providing Wi-Fi in frigid temps ranging from 20 to 30 degrees below zero, and often as low as 50 degrees below.
Whoa, that's extreme! SMM Pogo's AP170s are installed outside in subzero weather and function perfectly.
Why Aerohive? Aerohive's AP170 is known for weathering rugged temps, and that is exactly what SMM Pogo needs. As a mine in the Alaska Interior that sees temps as low as -50F and as high as 100F, rugged gear that can handle extremes of temperature and weather is a must. A recording external/internal thermometer has been added to the existing AP170, allowing the mine to monitor actual temperatures.
