Once again it’s time to take a break from blogging about enterprise wireless networking and focus instead on – fun! That’s right, it’s that time of the quarter when the Aerohive Team puts down the iPads and shifts its train of thought from Wi-Fi to whatever it is that the Aerohive Fun Committee has in store. You never know where this crazy ride is going to take us, and once again the AFC did not disappoint.
This time it was The First Annual Ice Cream Social . . . with Karaoke! (yes, I did just say Karaoke 
).
Here’s how it went down. The Treatbot Karaoke Ice Cream Truck parked its shiny self in front of the Aerohive lobby and doled out cones and tunes for all to enjoy.
It took a minute for people to warm up to the concept of getting gourmet ice cream from a food truck armed with a Karaoke machine/boom box and microphone . . .
But as the old saying goes, nothing brings community together like ice cream! Well, maybe I just made up that saying - but it’s true! It didn’t take long for folks to warm up to the idea of having ice cream for lunch. The line was twice this size for most of the afternoon . . .
Some people even got a little greedy, going for a double-scoop with a cup AND a sugar-cone hat.
Oops . . . good thing Amish and his toppled double-scoop stayed in the parking lot.
But I’m sure the Treatbot guys would have given him a new cone if he’d asked. These guys were great. Talk about positive energy!
People who played it safe with a single, tidy scoop in a cup were allowed back in the building to enjoy their ice cream treat …
Have you noticed how ice cream packs the wildest ingredients these days? Treatbot’s was no exception. Guess which flavor I went for? (true confession: I got a single scoop of Banana Almond Fudge, but ate a gazillion times that amount when you tally all the generous samples I tried. The ice cream was that good.) …
While the ice cream was a hit, the Karaoke part of the afternoon still loomed large. A boom box, microphone AND a tambourine awaited eager singers! Who would take the plunge and be first . . .
Well, that didn’t take long! Another old (and possibly self-fabricated) saying: “Where there’s Karaoke, there’s always somebody willing to pick up the mike and sing.” (Note: If you listen closely you can hear sorbet being ordered in the background 
) . . .
And that, my friends, is the definition of an Ice Cream (with Karaoke) Social and a fun-filled day at the office.
What’s next you ask? We are planning a BBQ and a Halloween costume contest in (you guessed it) October. We are still deciding what to do around the holidays, but you can be sure we will be pulling together as a team, once again, to support the community during the holiday season.
