With school back in session and summer drawing to a close, the Aerohive Fun Committee was at it again in September, creating a series of events to bring Hivesters together for some good times. Raffles, prizes, dress up, FOOD, $$$, Zumba, football ... there was a little bit of everything.
It was Fun Fridays!
We kicked things off with Football Friday (Get it? We “kicked” it off with “football” Friday?). Here’s how that went down.
We all met in the courtyard for some football fun including hot dogs and FUN prizes like a chance to win 2 tickets to a 49er game (sorry Raider fans). Everyone dressed up in their favorite football jersey, with anyone who dressed up getting double raffle tickets (a common theme throughout the month, you’ll notice.)
What a turn out! Go Niners! Go Raiders! (Gotta root for the Bay Area home teams). Go ... check out the variety of fans we have going on here at the Hive.
Some friendly rivalry:

And some not so friendly rivalry:

Teams-wise, a little bit of everything turned up: Niners, Raiders, Dallas ...

We even had a token Redskins fan:

And a Replacement Ref made an appearance. ![]()

And what else would one eat during a Football extravaganza but hotdogs?!

Moving onto Fun Friday #2: Fiesta Friday!
For this fun-filled event, we ate Mexican food (Chipotle) for lunch and gave Hivesters a chance to win a fancy margarita machine. We passed out sombreros, fired up a piñata and had us some good ole fashion Friday fun.
Some fun sombrero shots!

And what party at the Hive would be complete without FOOD? ![]()

And what party is complete without a candy-filled piñata?!

Let’s see, what’s next. Fitness Friday (to work off the hotdogs, tacos and candy, right?)
The theme for this Fun Friday event was fitness. So we provided healthy Subway sandwiches (Hey, Jared lost a bunch of weight eating there, right?!) followed by a Zumba class led by our very own Amy Gardner.
Hivesters were asked to wear their comfortable workout gear on Fitness Friday to double their chance to win a $200 gift certificate to Sports Authority. Those who did the Zumba class got three raffle tickets – the Fun Committee knows a thing or two about how to rally the troops. ![]()
I would dare say, everybody took the opportunity to wear their comfy workout clothes that day.
Well, maybe not everybody, but we had our Aerohive sweatbands as a backup for those who didn’t read the Fun Fitness Friday memo.

Then came Zumba time. A few of the fellas were good sports and participated. This was hard! Never mind, as Amy informed us, that we only got through the warm-up before everybody took a break for the raffle. ![]()

Is it just me or is everybody going a different direction?

Last but not least, the grand Fun Finale: Flashy Friday!!!
Everybody was looking the most forward to this Friday event because of the chance to win cash-ola. Cabbage. Moolah. Green backs. Everyone wanted a turn in the Money Booth. A raffle draw determined who would get a chance to win, with anyone wearing a flashy outfit receiving double raffle tickets.
If you’ve never heard of a Money Booth, it’s a load of fun. You stand in a booth filled with powerful wind and money swirling around. The game is about trying to grab as many bills as you can in a 30-second period.
We started off with $1,000 in bills (think lots of $1s and $5s and $20s). Our highest earner was Emilio who grabbed $111. The lowest was yours truly – only $13 grabbed. <wah-wah-wah-wah-waaah>.
But it’s still super fun and I suspect the Money Booth will be in Aerohive’s Fun Future. After about 13 people had a chance in the booth, the unclaimed money ($306) when to charity (2nd Harvest Food Bank). Now that’s what I consider a win-win all around!
Com’on, admit it. This looks fun right?
Step one: Don Money Booth safety gear.

Step two: Wait anxiously for wind and money to start swirling wildly.

Step three: Grab as much money as you can as it blows all around you.

Step four: Count the money pile!

No Money Booth extravaganza is fun without a DJ. Let's give it up for DJ Amish!

If anybody has any other fun ideas we should implement in the future then please leave a comment. Here’s to a FUN fall ahead!
As Brad Hall likes to say “BOOM”.
