Today’s Branch on Demand launch is a major step for Aerohive and for the networking industry. Mobility and the Cloud have highlighted the rigidity of the traditional, Enterprise access architecture and shown how it impedes employee and company flexibility.
Enterprise access needs to be redefined to handle the new paradigm of mobile devices and cloud-based applications. The Enterprise needs an access architecture purpose-built for mobility and agility, and that is what Aerohive is delivering. Our intelligent, cloud-enabled, controller-less Wi-Fi solutions radically Simpli-Fi complex mobile networking and redefine access in the Enterprise office environment.
And with our Branch on Demand launch we are expanding our offering to go beyond our controller-less Wi-Fi roots to deliver a broader networking portfolio – routing, VPN, security and unified wired/wireless user-based networking – all at an unprecedented price of $99/year per site.
This portfolio of products enables secure mobility and pushes the new access architecture beyond the confines of the fixed office environment to redefine Enterprise access at whatever location the Enterprise needs to be – on a customer site, in a telecommuter home, at an offsite planning meeting or even in a mobile command center.
The time is ripe for a branch office solution like this. The confluence of the “iEverything” mobility explosion, the emergence of Wi-Fi as the primary access layer, the efficiencies of cloud services, and the decentralization of the corporate office, with homeshoring, teleworkers, micro-branches and partnering, is forcing enterprises to reevaluate their IT strategies. So much so that even John Chambers commented on this …
- John Chambers, Nov 2011.
This was said in an interview with NetworkWorld regarding Cisco’s recent Q1 fiscal year earnings statement. Chambers went on to say that while the number of units sold of their access router line continues to increase, the overall revenue decreased – so much, in fact, that it pulled their overall router revenue down 3% for the quarter. This is because the dynamics of the branch office are changing. The continued decentralization of the traditional corporate office is being driven by a number of major enterprise initiatives.
Homeshoring and teleworkers need HQ-like access
Homeshoring and teleworking are being driven by the ability to significantly reduce real estate costs, to tap into highly educated, yet less expensive, regional talent pools, and to eliminate employee commutes.
The further reduction in branch sizes, and the accelerated growth of micro branch deployments, is also being driven by the desire to relocate employees, especially sales employees, within their community and customer base.
These “distributed enterprise” initiatives place a great deal of pressure on IT to deliver HQ–like access, security, and performance to all employees, irrespective of location, and to provide this enterprise class infrastructure cost effectively.
With our new Branch on Demand branch office solution, Aerohive has leveraged the scale, availability and economies of the cloud to minimize the network provisioning complexity and operational cost of deploying enterprise networks in employees’ homes micro branches, and temporary enterprise networks.
Branch on Demand is a different class of branch office solution – and one purposely built to address the mobility and agility requirements of the modern remote office. Whether that office is just one user or a few dozen, access needs of the users in that office are equal to that of any traditional branch office users. By combining Aerohive’s Cloud Services Platform with user-friendly devices, Branch on Demand provides a new approach to branch connectivity with the simplicity, centralized control, visibility, and economies of scale needed for broad deployment of hundreds, if not thousands, of remote branches.
The Enterprise cloud
By leveraging the Enterprise cloud model, the Aerohive Branch on Demand solution enables enterprises to realize the benefits of teleworkers, microbranches, and homeshoring at a fraction of the capital and operational expenses of traditional remote access solutions. The visibility and control provided by the Aerohive Cloud Services platform – regardless of whether that cloud is Aerohive’s or a customer’s own –eliminates the need for enterprises to invest in complex infrastructure to support branch office deployments.
The Branch on Demand solution is the next-generation of access for distributed enterprises. It allows for significant capital and operational expense savings, regains visibility of the remote workforce, and delivers new levels of productivity and employee mobility.
It is an access solution that is purpose-built for mobility and agility – a solution that transforms WORK from “a place you go”, to “a thing you do!"
